Grovez Frofenz is the fifth album by Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Jonas Cout and his second under the nickname Hongos Longos. After experimenting with main floor beats in his previous release, Jonas revisits the genre he is most proficient at: downtempo. From his background as a percussion instructor in Rio de Janeiro, Jonas pays tribute to his roots with the use of many traditional musical instruments with Brazilian origins such as pandeiro, triangulo, agogô, cavaquinho, and many more. Adding up to this myriad assortment of flavors one can also identify influences from progressive rock, dub, glitch, freestyle, ambient, and dark psytrance, all mixed in enticing and unconventional structures and rhythms. The result is fresh and eclectic: a sound that stands out in his own way and invites us to his own world. Mastered by Anti-Logic, Berlin.
